Questo sistema si basa sull’aggiunta di un additivo iniettato nel flusso di scarico per ridurre le emissioni del veicolo.
Questo additivo è più comunemente conosciuto con il nome Adblue . Oltre al normale serbatoio del carburante i veicoli dotati di questa tecnologia hanno anche uno speciale serbatoio Adblue . La dimensione di questo serbatoio aggiuntivo è generalmente proporzionale alla dimensione del serbatoio del carburante principale poiché il consumo di AdBlue è in genere compreso tra il 4% e l’ 8% del consumo di carburante.
La velocità di iniezione di Adblue cambia costantemente ed è controllata dall’elettronica del veicolo. La quantità di Adblue iniettata si basa su molti parametri diversi. questi includono la velocità del motore, il carico del motore, la temperatura del motore, la temperatura dei gas di scarico e le temperature del catalizzatore di scarico.
L’iniezione aggiuntiva di questo Adblue aumenta il costo di esercizio del veicolo rendendolo impopolare tra gli operatori del veicolo. L’uso del fluido adblue su questi veicoli crea grossi problemi agli operatori del veicolo nel caso in cui ablue non fosse disponibile nella loro posizione o se il sistema adblue dovesse presentare un guasto.
Se il veicolo rileva un problema con Adblue sistema o se il fluido adblue non viene utilizzato, il veicolo entra automaticamente in una speciale modalità di potenza ridotta . Questa modalità a potenza ridotta rimane fino a quando il sistema ablue non viene riparato o il sistema adblue non viene ricaricato.
